Henry’s Story:
“In 2017, at eighteen years old, I travelled to China with CFCC - an experience that transformed my outlook on learning, culture and opportunity. I spent several weeks at Liaoning University, exploring Beijing and Chongqing, and immersing myself in the pace, ambition and innovation of modern China.
CFCC entrusted me with the chance to deliver lectures on Western marketing and conduct research comparing business mindsets in China and the West. Teaching in a completely new environment pushed me to grow in confidence, communication and adaptability, and that research later led to a published paper in the Sage Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Markets - something I never imagined achieving at eighteen.
I then joined the CFCC group for a week-long study programme at Cambridge University, where learning alongside students from both China and the UK gave me a deeper understanding of what global perspective truly means. It was the moment I realised how powerful cross-cultural collaboration can be.
My time with CFCC was genuinely life-changing. It expanded my worldview, strengthened my academic confidence, and shaped the way I approach creativity, learning and global opportunity today.”

“There was a time when learning didn’t come easily to me. As a student, I struggled academically and, like many young people, became distracted and disengaged. For a long while, I didn’t believe I was capable of achieving much beyond what was immediately in front of me.
That began to change when I joined a CFCC programme and travelled to the UK for the first time. Stepping into a completely different academic environment was a turning point. Being immersed in a new culture, surrounded by historic institutions and people from different backgrounds, opened my eyes to what learning could feel like.
During the programme, I wasn’t just attending classes, I was encouraged to think, to question, and to reflect. For the first time, education felt meaningful rather than pressured. I began to see myself not as someone who had fallen behind, but as someone who simply hadn’t yet found the right environment to grow.
That experience reshaped my confidence. It helped me believe that my future wasn’t defined by my past academic struggles. CFCC gave me more than an overseas experience - it gave me perspective and direction.
Looking back, that journey marked the moment I began to take control of my own growth. It remains one of the most important chapters in my personal and academic life.”
